Is fall the best time to plant?
No, heres why.

Any time of year is the best time to plant as long as you know what your microclimates are. Most don't and this is why plants die 7 out of 10 times.

Example: You go to the nursery today you see a plant you like and marked full shade. You get home definitely a shaded area but in summer with the strong sun hits the window and reflects onto your plant for 2 -4 hours a day. That microenviornment changes from full shade and to partial shade or even in some cases mostly sun.

This is very common on house foundations as if you just feel the bricks and concrete on a warm day and the heat that comes off of them. You'd be suprised how quick that can dry out soil

Some other microclimates are vinyl fences and fences that lack airflow or deflect heat, downspouts for water erosion, house foundations, deer or insect enviorment, trees, coastal exposure, sidewalks driveways etc. If you don't know just send me a picture of the area and I can tell you what to look for and what environments you possibly have.

Now onto fall the soil is still warm but the air temperature is cooler. This promotes root growth as its not focusing on water intake and heat stress. It's the same reason why I talk about overseeding in the fall versus the spring to get that nice root system established within two growing seasons instead of one before you get to the summer heat. That's the benefit fall gives you.

If you only plant fall or spring you will only get a garden in fall or spring and the best Gardens are planted year-round even in winter there are plants that you can plant.

🌧️ SCHEDULE UPDATE – UNION BEACH, KEYPORT & CLIFFWOOD BEACH

If you’re a Union Beach, Keyport, or Cliffwood Beach customer, you may have noticed that we moved your lawn service up a day this week.

We made that decision after looking ahead at the weather and seeing the potential for a 3-day washout.

With the amount of rain expected this afternoon and tonight — potentially around 2 inches — lawns could remain extremely wet even after the rain stops. Cutting saturated grass can cause rutting, tearing, clumping, and unnecessary damage to your lawn, so we’re trying to get ahead of the weather while conditions allow.

Our goal is always to keep everyone as close to schedule as possible while also making sure we’re not damaging your property just to get a lawn cut.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as we work around Mother Nature!

Our customers look to us when our competition can't cut it because we will. Come join one of the highest rated customer service landscapers in the Bayshore Area. The People's Landscaper & Snow Removal is looking for 2 responsible landscape helpers to join our team. The ideal candidates will deliver a great customer experience by working together as a team and be comfortable operating lawn maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers & garden tools.

Landscaper Helpers will ensure the growth and vibrancy of our lawns, plants, flowers, lawn, and decorative shrubs. The candidate can expect to work outdoors in a mix of weather conditions, and be able to perform maintenance duties to ensure employee safety during inclement weather by removing debris, snow, and ice from communal walkways and spaces.

Landscaper Duties and Responsibilities
Operate push or riding lawnmowers
Install flower beds including mulch, landscaper fabric rock , etc..
Spread fertilizer, plant food, mulch, and other materials around plants
Remove weeds and dead plants; prune overgrown limbs and leaves
Operate string trimmer and edger to remove overgrowth and keep outdoor area tidy
Use leaf blower to clear walkways and pedestrian areas after lawn maintenance
Maintain the existing landscaping design and ensure plant survival
Plant new flowers, bushes, plants, and decorative shrubs
Rake fallen leaves and remove debris
Remove tree limbs, overgrowth, and other hazards
Properly store and handle all equipment, tools, sprinklers, etc.Landscaper

Requirements and Qualifications
Previous experience in landscaping or groundskeeping a plus
Must be 18 years of age
Able to work independently
Must be able to operate lawn maintenance equipment such as lawnmowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, etc.
Able to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 40 pounds
Job Type: Part Time
