I just lost a sale to a new homeowner not willing to purchase a home in a particular homeowners association. As a buyer you will have to decide whether you want to live with the rules and regulations of that Association or not. It's important that you and your Realtor talk about the rules and regulations of that Association.

It's also important to understand what an association does for the neighborhood and the values in that neighborhood. There are many homes out there with no associations with run-down neighborhoods cars parked in the front lawn. People running businesses out of their homes. You have to weigh the pros and cons and decide what kind of neighborhood you want to live in.
