Good News: My mom moved back into her home today!!

Bad News: We came down with the flu (🤒🤢🤧) and will have to delay get-together/ open house until we get better.

As crappy as we both feel right now, we're both happy my mom is home.

We'll let you know the new open house date next week when we feel better.

Hi All,

I'm so sorry; it's been a while since I've updated this page. Frankly, there was nothing to update you about.

The frustration we've experienced over the last few months is insane. The insurance adjustor stopped communicating with my mom or me, so she ended up hiring a lawyer. He wasn't giving us updates or letting us know anything that was happening. He wouldn't return calls or answer letters; it was just frustrating. I guess he got tired of us asking him if they had found the cause of the fire.

To answer that question, I finally tracked down the forensic fire investigator last week and spoke to him. He was very kind and basically said that the cause was an undetermined electrical fire.
It started in the attic space above the master bedroom, which is where the HVAC system is housed. He said everything was so badly burned that there was no way to test any of the electrical components to know what caused the fire. He did say one of my mom's neighbors was kind enough to allow him to look at their HVAC system (thanks for that), and he took all the serial numbers to look to see if there were any recalls or issues, and he found none. So that's it for that.

Anyway, the good news is that the insurance company has finally released the initial funds to begin the rebuild process, which should begin sometime next month (pending permit approvals and such). They're estimating the rebuild to take 6–8 months at this point, and they will be giving my mom's home priority with their other projects.

That's it for now. Hopefully, we'll have some more updates to give soon. Again, sorry for the delay and the lack of updates.

So we FINALLY have an update that we can share. (Sorry this will be a long post)

It's been almost a month since the fire and there's been a lot of going back and forth with the insurance company as we've been asking for updates.

The last thing we were told (last week) was that they had to notify KB Homes (the builder) and Lin Air (a company that did some work in the attic regarding my mom's AC in 2021) that there was a fire investigation. Both companies will need to also send their experts into the house as well so no one (including the insurance company) could begin their investigation until all parties were ready to begin. Main reason, if one company went in and moved debris, the other company could claim that they tampered with evidence or were the cause of any damage of fault that was later discovered.

We received a message a couple days ago saying that next Monday (February 6th), the insurance company will be going in (hopefully with the investigators from the other company), to begin shoring up the walls and removing debris. I said hopefully as the insurance rep only left us a message and I've been playing phone tag with him for the last couple of days.

All this has to happen before my mom can even get any estimates for the rebuild. One, as the house has been drying out, some of the rafters have begun to shift, making the structure unsafe to enter. and two, the debris needs to be cleared out so that accurate measurements can taken.

So it's looking like at about a year before my family can move back in. After the debris removal, then the reclamation folks will come in to help my mom and sister sift through everything to see what can be salvageable. After that, any remaining debris has to be cleared out and then the rest of the house demolished. At that point, the rebuild can begin.

Given the length of how long this is looking like, my mom and sister have decided to move into a house up in Anthem that the insurance company found for them. They're almost moved into that home and thankfully, they will still be close by.

That's about it. Thanks for all the support and help that has been provided to my family and myself. I will post any new information we get, especially with regard to the investigation as we're eager to learn what will be found.

God bless and have a good night.

Thank you for all the amazing support and love. Our family is so overwhelmed with the highs we feel from the kindness we're being shown and the lows of the devastation of the situation.

We're processing all these emotions and are trying to navigate this situation with grace and dignity.

With all the speculation and stories floating around on the main neighborhood page, this page will serve as the official information "headquarters". If we don't share it here, it's not from us.

The last thing we want to happen is for anyone to feel like they're being scammed or taken advantage of.

It's hard to even think straight right now, so we're gathering our thoughts and assessing my mom's and sister's need and will post an update in the next couple of days.

Thank you all and God bless ❤️❤️

Hello everyone. By now, the majority of Inspirada has heard about the unfortunate fire that happened last night within the Estates community. Our friends, neighbors, and fellow Inspiradan’s home is a complete and total loss.

I met with the family this morning and they are still obviously processing everything. I know that we, the greatest community on earth, can and will do anything to help.

In talking to the family, they felt a single destination page would be best for communication, so here it is.

I will be sharing this link with them so they only need to “check one place.”

Their spirits are as high as they can be, their family is together and thankfully safe.

Let’s show the rest of the world how amazing this community is.
