Big MLS news this morning. Six MLSs from across the country (Arizona Regional MLS, Bridge MLS, Canopy MLS, REColorado, Hive MLS and Doorify) filed suit against Compass in federal court in New York. They say Compass has been pressuring MLSs to loosen the rules that require publicly marketed listings to go into the MLS, and that weakening those rules would make the market less transparent for buyers and sellers. Compass says homeowners and the law, not MLSs, should decide how a home is marketed.
It follows California Regional MLS suing Compass earlier this month, and Compass countersuing.
Our take: the MLS works because everyone shares listings in one place. That's what gives buyers the full picture and gives sellers the widest exposure.
Geoff Lavell, curious what you think. Where do you see this heading?

The complaint, which comes from MLSs across the U.S., is the latest in a string of conflicts.
