Another great Raising the Bar educational session is coming up!

On Wednesday, August 26 from 12:00–1:15 p.m. PT, Charles F. Hollis, III, J.D., LL.M. will present “Dealing With Immigration Issues in Domestic Relations Cases.”

What we’ll be learning:

✔️ The four classifications of people living in the United States
✔️ Divorce jurisdiction and conditional permanent residence
✔️ VAWA self-petitions and removability for domestic violence
✔️ Support issues and conflicts of interest involving the I-864 Affidavit of Support

Immigration status can determine whether a divorce case can even be filed, whether a support obligation survives, and whether a client facing abuse has a path to legal status of their own. This session gives family law practitioners the framework to spot these issues before they derail a case.
