NV Energy Customers to Receive Refunds by September 2026

According to KTNV 13 News 100,000 Nevadans were overcharged more than $60,000,000 due to misclassification on multi-family properties going as far back as 2002. The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) and the Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection accused NV Energy of repeated failures that undermine the public trust. The utility company questioned the PUC’s authority to hold them accountable and force full refunds. Short after NV Energy’s CEO resigned. Consumer watchdog groups made heartfelt statements imploring the State to act.
In January 2025, NV Energy proposed a compromise with the PCU, offering full refunds plus interest for all affected customers if the Commission agreed to close its investigation. The case will remain open until NV Energy submits a third-party report assessing the reasonableness and accuracy of methods used to indentify all misclassified customers. You can check out the full report once it’s available at NV Energy’s website: nvenergy.com. The company must also provide a certificate confirming bill credits and refund checks have been issued as promised. Active customers will get credits and inactive customers will receive a check at their last known address. All refunds will include interest and taxes.

Mortgage rates are sitting near three-year lows. You can find government loans well under six percent right now. Waiting for them to drop further is a mistake. The national debt is on track to hit 64 trillion dollars by 2036. That massive debt means rates cannot drop dramatically anytime soon. The number of cash buyers back in December 2025 were only 29 percent, the lowest it’s been for that month since 2020. Financing is officially back in the driver's seat. With demand increasing and new listings also ticking up last week. Securing your home before spring competition locks you out is the smart move. ♟️🧐🧠

🏠 The Momentum is Shifting: Home Sales Hit a 3-Year High! 📈

Big news for the housing market! After a challenging 2025, we are seeing a major turning point. Lower mortgage rates are finally doing the heavy lifting, pushing home sales to their highest levels in nearly three years.

Here’s the breakdown of what this means for you:

🔹 Rates are Trending Down: The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.19% in December, down significantly from the 7% highs we saw at the start of 2025.

🔹 Inventory is Growing (Slowly): While supply remains tight, inventory is up 3.5% compared to this time last year, giving buyers more options than they had previously.

🔹 Prices are Stabilizing: The median home price rose just 0.4% year-over-year, signaling a much-needed cooling in price appreciation.

Regional Snapshot (December Sales):
• South: ⬆️ 6.9% increase
• West: ⬆️ 6.6% increase
• Midwest & Northeast: Both saw a steady 2% rise in activity.

The Bottom Line:
The National Association of Realtors (NAR) forecasts that if rates hit the 6% mark in 2026, an additional 5.5 million households could enter the market. If you’ve been sitting on the sidelines waiting for "the right time," the data suggests the window is opening.

While the decrease in rates is helping to offset higher home prices, buyers still face a challenging housing market.

Growing up, I watched Home Alone a million-times, especially during Christmas time and always cracked up in laughter of the boy's ingenuity. If they have a reboot of this movie, I would definitely go watch it...

When Macaulay Culkin sat down to watch Home Alone with his young son, he didn’t expect the sweetest surprise. His little boy looked at Kevin on the screen, pointed, and proudly claimed that he was the kid in the movie. To him, the spiky hair, wide eyes, and Christmas chaos all matched perfectly. It was one of those rare full-circle moments where a role from decades ago becomes part of a family’s personal story.

Culkin and his wife loved the idea so much that they decided to turn it into a memory. They dressed their son in Kevin’s iconic winter look complete with the oversized coat, knit hat, and the mischievous spark that made the character unforgettable. Seeing their child recreate a character that defined Macaulay’s youth brought laughter, nostalgia, and more than a little emotion to the room.

For Culkin, the moment wasn’t about fame or legacy. It was about sharing a piece of his past with the people he loves most, and watching it become something new. A role that once launched his career suddenly became a father and son connection point, a warm reminder that some stories truly live on through generations.
