Happy Saturday! Inflation data just came out yesterday morning. The report showed prices up 3.0% over the last year, with “core” inflation at 3.0%. Core removes food and gas so we can see the underlying trend. The monthly core number cooled a bit, which markets liked. Stocks moved higher and the 10-year Treasury yield eased. Both of those point to slightly better mortgage pricing.

Freddie Mac’s survey Thursday had the 30-year fixed at 6.19%, the lowest level in over a year. Yesterday’s data supports the idea that rates can drift a little lower (fingers crossed), though they still move day to day.

What does this mean for buyers and sellers? Buyers may get a bit more breathing room on monthly payments, and well-priced listings should see a pickup in activity.

Pro tip - Lose your ego. Negotiating with an ego will get you eaten alive by an experienced negotiator. Weak negotiators think leading with ego is tough. It really shows weakness. Great negotiators exploit weakness and insecurity to gain leverage and improve their position.

Who else gets a little adrenaline rush when the negotiation kicks off—especially when both sides bring their best to the table?
