One year ago today, our lives and our community were changed forever. When Hurricane Helene hit Western North Carolina, everything we knew shifted in an instant.

There was no cell signal. No way to know if our families, friends, or fellow agents were safe. We didn’t know if our office was still standing or if it had been filled with water like so many other buildings around us. Some of us couldn’t even get home to see if our houses—and our lives as we knew them—were still there.

In those first hours and days, it felt like WNC was living through an apocalyptic moment. Roads were gone, power was out for miles, and communication was nearly impossible. The future was uncertain, and all we had was our faith, our neighbors, and the hope that we would find our way through.

But in that darkness, light began to shine. Our first responders and emergency crews worked tirelessly to save lives and restore safety. Volunteers, aid workers, and countless people from near and far showed up—bringing resources, supplies, and strength when we needed it most.

Over the past year, we’ve witnessed heartbreak, resilience, and the incredible strength of our mountain towns. We’ve seen communities come together, strangers lend a hand, and families rebuild from the ground up.

Today, as we reflect, we are filled with gratitude—for the heroes who risked everything to help, for the neighbors who stood by each other, and for this land that continues to rise from the storm. Western North Carolina is strong, and we are honored to be a part of this community’s journey of healing and rebuilding.
Here’s to growth, resilience, and never forgetting how far we’ve come. 💛

On this day, we pause to honor and remember the lives tragically lost on September 11th, 2001. We reflect on the bravery, sacrifice, and selflessness of the first responders who ran toward danger when the world needed them most. Their courage continues to inspire us all.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to the first responders of today—our firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and emergency personnel—who serve our communities every day with unwavering dedication. Your commitment, resilience, and compassion do not go unnoticed, and we are forever thankful for the protection and care you provide.

Today, we remember, we honor, and we thank you.
