I planted six blueberry bushes two years ago to establish a blueberry patch at Hideaway Park. Last year, the first season, we had quite a few berries, but the ones I tasted were kind of tough and small. I was concerned.

This season they started ripening this week. I’ve had several handfuls and they are big, juicy, and tasty!

Now we just need to wait for them to grow and increase their yield over a few years. My grandfather had blueberry bushes that were taller than I was and they produced so many blueberries we could not pick them all. I hope these bushes get that big. (berries are first come first serve)

The pond is having its best year ever. The water is very clear and there are lots of tadpoles and salamanders swimming around. In previous years, the pond would be covered with string algae in the summer. In addition to the clear water, tadpoles, and salamanders, we’ve got several flowering plants that are looking great .

More progress being made at the renovated cabin in Hideaway Park! The main room and kitchen have been painted. Kitchen cabinets have also been stained. (Ignore the washer dryer in the middle of the room. It will be moved.) New oven range and fridge have been ordered.
