I wrote this down 4 years ago when I started this business, and it’s still a core belief of mine.
Summer is so much fun but it can start to feel a little chaotic by mid July when we say yes to all the fun on top of working hours and the kids (and everyone in the house) is out of routine. This week has me feeling a bit overwhelmed so here’s how I’m course correcting to make the second half of summer feel as fun as ever but with a little less overwhelm:
1. Reminding kids of the basics like getting everything out of the car when we get home from whatever activity, just like what is expected during the school year. Nothing like a cluttered car to give a vibe of survival mode lol clean car=instant reset
2. Carving out time to look ahead at the calendar every Sunday and do basic prep. We’ve been traveling a lot/having fun late into the evenings on Sundays leaving no time for me to prepare for the week ahead. This makes me feel like life is just tossing us here and there which is fine and fun until it’s not.
3. Unpacking the bags- we’ve been on the go so much, I’ve had a perpetual suitcase going. It’s time to unload all the things and get them to where they belong. Raise your hand if you have a TJ Maxx bag full of who knows what in your mudroom or foyer? 😅
How are you keeping things running smoothly at home this summer but still enjoying the pace of the season?
