June 4th, 2026: The team at have really helped us tastefully transform our attic space visually and have been engaged every step of the way. We look forward to seeing these plans go from paper to real life. We couldn’t have come up with the best direction for this space without them.

Additional floor joists are going in Monday with some electrical work, then we’ll begin addressing load bearing points to ensure the dormers are well supported structurally.

Phase 2: Operation Attic Conversion

We’re officially underway on our historic half story attic conversion! We’ve partnered with Moss Marlow, Arcade Architects, and Taylor/Viola Structural Engineers to craft a tasteful change to our roofline to keep the historic aesthetic but giving our daughters new bedrooms for them to grow into.

Once the rough in is complete, we can’t wait to have Will and Dani at Val Collective assist us with the finishes.

Prayers for smooth sailing!

May 16th, 2026: Storm Ready…

While we wait for phase II of our renovation project to begin, we’ve been busy installing our full off grid capable battery and tri-fuel optioned generator. The first of its kind can run gas, natural gas, and propane. The beauty of the solution lies in its ability to convert natural gas into recharging our 4 batteries and then the batteries run our entire history home’s electricity in storm or grid failures. The generator will run long enough to top the batteries off at 80%, then cutoff allowing us to us batteries to operate down to 20% and then cycle the natural gas generator again. The 4?batteries will power our entire home for a little more than a week before the generator needs to run to recharge.

After growing up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and dealing with hurricanes majority of my life and watching what Hurricane Helene did to our Western NC area a couple of years ago, we opted to build a contingency system.

August 4th, 2025: Sneak Peek 🫣

Preparations for Phase II are well underway. Big changes are coming to WavyGlass1906!

Phase I included restoration, renovation, and finishing work from the foundation to the floor joists in the attic. Hard to believe this Christmas will mark 3 years since we completed Phase I and moved in just a few days before Christmas of 2022.

Since then, we’ve been busy with many other projects and saw the completion of our kitchen (tile & updated paint), all new decking, (and staining) and some other necessary maintenance in our finished basement including a massive exterior waterproofing project.

We now turn our attention on converting our attic into finished living space. This project will not be taken lightly. The plan to is add two bedrooms and a centralized bath with a grand hallway. Perhaps the most challenging of this next phase will be living underneath it with young kids and busy parents with a never ending workload!

Stay tuned!

And just like that, the deck is 100% complete.

We added 2 different stains to seal and protect with semi solids that still show the wood grain but adds great contrast against the white clapboard exterior of our house.

Can’t wait to make all the memories out here.

December 19th, 2024: Yall…I’m speechless.

And if anyone knows me, knows that’s next to impossible because I’m never quiet and I always have much to say.

But when I stand in this kitchen, I’m speechless. It’s stunning.

We love white kitchens, we do. We didn’t originally plan to paint the cabinets a color, but MAN! We’re elated with how this came out. It’s a blue color but in some lights it has a subtle greenish hue to it. That color really allows the white washed Beadboard ceilings, Taj Mahal Quartzite countertops, and our new porcelain tile to POP! Toss in all new brass hardware and it’s stunning.

There’s a few items left to finish up, but it’s essentially done. Now onto the next project!
