ðŸŠī This week, we got our hands dirty to create container gardens featuring an assortment of vegetable transplants!

🌧ïļ We had hoped to work on the elevated courtyard, but the heavy rains forced us inside. So, we gathered in the social kitchen and got expert guidance from Lauren and Sierra with Catawba County Parks.

They taught us which plants can grow compatibly, and they showed us how to get the plants tucked into good, rich soil so that they're well established and will be productive and healthy. ☀ïļ

We loved the practical tips as we assembled our containers and gained gardening confidence. Now, we're looking forward to ripe red tomatoes and cool, crisp cucumbers! 🍅 ðŸĨ’

ðŸ—― We enjoyed an all-American picnic yesterday as we celebrated the official beginning of summer and remembered our fallen service men and women. We dug into a feast of favorites, including fried chicken, pulled pork, potato salad, watermelon, deviled eggs, and sweet tea. 🍗 Residents, family, and friends piled their plates high and gave thanks for all that we have, grateful for being able to live freely and abundantly. It was a humbling but good day! 🙏

ðŸŒŋ Yesterday, we hosted a fun group workshop to help residents repot any houseplants that had become overgrown or needed fresh soil.

⛅ïļ We gathered on the elevated courtyard before the sun got too high overhead, and we divided plants and snuggled them into new pots so they could thrive. We also shared extras, along with other plant clippings, and made sure that we now have beautiful, healthy specimens for our homes and balconies! 🎍

👊 Our residents have a competitive streak, and they especially love activities that allow them to one-up each other.

🍊 This week, we hosted a bocce-and-biscotti event on the elevated courtyard, where they had a chance to nudge their team's balls closest to the pallino – and knock their opponent's away from it. There's strategy involved, of course, along with some carefully applied force.

🧠 Inside, we coordinated a trivia night, and this time, Steve emerged victorious. While he won the rounds, he also had the dubious pleasure of wearing the crown of fame (shame?) Haha!

That's one reason we were proud to be a sponsor of this year's Foothills Folk Art Festival, which is so successful at bringing people together and showcasing the Catawba Valley's quality of life. ðŸŽĻ

Recently, Jerry (wearing green shirt) performed at First United Methodist Church, Hickory with his fellow musicians in the Catawba Valley New Horizons Band. The group is known for creating music-making opportunities for adults, and it provides a positive atmosphere for beginning and seasoned adult musicians. ðŸŽķ

☀ We kept Sunday open for family gatherings, but on Monday, we hosted our own Mothers Day brunch for residents who wanted to keep the celebration going!

💝 We honored mothers in all their varieties and had a terrific time reminiscing, sharing stories, and enjoying classic fare like muffins, quiche, fresh fruit, juice, deviled eggs, and ham-and-cheese croissants. And since we're in the height of spring, we made sure there were plenty of gorgeous bouquets to say 'thank you' to our moms! 💐

🎉 It's been a busy May, and our residents are taking advantage of celebrations and programs at BellaAge, along with activities and events in the community!

🏇 For the Kentucky Derby, we hosted an elegant party, complete with spring fashion, mint juleps, and good-natured rivalry based on the horses we selected and cheered on. It's always fun to participate in time-honored Southern traditions – and to bring a little flair to the occasion! ðŸŒļ

ðŸŒŪ America loves Mexican culture, so on Cinco de Mayo, we threw a party to celebrate some of our favorite traditions from south of the border!

In lively tribute, we learned Latin dancing, indulged in a delicious taco bar, pummeled a pinata until it gave up its treasures, and enjoyed incredible margaritas. 💃ðŸū

We also relished the opportunity to spend time with friends old and new as we showcased our cross-cultural appreciation and tapped into Mexico's signature flair. ☀ïļ

It was definitely an evening of good food, good company, laughter, and outright joy. Why weren't you with us?!
