Competition for Long Island homes showed no signs of cooling off in August, as the median sale prices in both Nassau and Suffolk counties hit record highs last month.

The median single-family home in Nassau sold for $835,000 in August, or 11.3% more than the same figure a year ago, according to data released Monday by OneKey MLS.

In Suffolk, the median price rose to $680,000 last month, which was 8.8% higher than in August 2023. The data covers deals that closed in August.

With the upcoming interest rate cut by the Fed this Wednesday, it can be a big help to buyers out there who have been locked out of the housing market.
Rates have been steadily decreasing and this cut on Wednesday can further help that along. It may also help with the lack of houses available to home buyers
as people who own homes may be more open now to selling their existing home.

A Lot of positives coming I think...be patient.

About Ed Hodkinson

Hi everyone, thank you for liking and visiting my page Ed Hodkinson - Authentically Hicksville. I've been working in real estate for a lot of years. I've helped sellers and buyers with their homes from Rosedale to Shirley. While being able to service those areas and all in between one is near and dear to my heart...my home town of Hicksville NY. Here is a little bit of my history.

Born in 1973, I live over on Cantiague Rock Road while also spending many nights on Gables Drive. I grew up going to the carnivals held in the Mid Island Plaza parking lot, watching the awesome parades down Broadway followed by the fire truck races on Labor Day which felt like the entire world was at! I would spend many 4th of Julys with my Dad, Ed and my great Uncle Richard Evers setting up and taking down the American flags which were proudly displayed up and down Broadway. An American Legion activity I cherished. I went to Burns Avenue Elementary School, graduated to The Hicksville Middle School, and finished my Hicksville education at Hicksville High School. My childhood memories are steeped in Hicksville tradition.

For all of these reasons, I consider myself authentically Hicksville and uniquely qualified to help you buy or sell a home in Hicksville.
