We had an amazing time doing the “8 Springs in 8 Miles” paddling trip with our friends at Anderson’s Outdoor Adventures!
The Santa Fe is low right now, but we were able to paddle all the way through and the water was astonishingly clear!
Pack a cooler and take your time meandering through springs country. Anderson’s has you covered for all the other details!

One of the great things about living here is the many green spaces that have been deliberately set aside for conservation.
The 125 acre Sweetwater Wetlands Park was created to improve the water quality of Paynes Prairie and the Floridan Aquifer, acting as nature's kidney to cleanse water. It provides a beautiful natural habitat for native wildlife and 3.5 miles of trails for the Gainesville.
We walked off Sunday brunch and saw alligators, a variety of birds, butterflies, and deer, including one who ran out of the marsh right in front of us!

We now have 3 turtle nests on the property! And these are just the 3 where I’ve personally witnessed the event. I imagine there are many more. Hoping we see an abundance of baby turtles this summer! 🐢❤️

Yellow Bellied Slider depositing her eggs!!

We had two different Yellow Bellied Slider turtles nesting at the exact same time on Sunday!
The eggs will hatch in 60-90 days, and the mothers will not return to tend to them. They’re on their own from here!
We’ll let nature take its course, but have marked the nests so we can give them plenty of space.
