Mayra Ottati Stern got the idea of writing all the "Alex's Bilingual Children's Book Series" because she could not find that many bilingual children's books for kids ages 3 to 9 in the area where she lives. Many times she found herself reading a book in English to her son and then translating it into Spanish so he would practice both languages. Other times, she found herself reading a book in Spanish and translating it into English so her son would understand. She also found that it was hard to find a bilingual book with a good message at the end of the story.

Mayra Ottati Stern was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She was living in Parkland, Florida (USA) when she wrote these books.

*Bilingual Children's Books!*

Mayra Ottati Stern got the idea of writing all the "Alex's Bilingual Children's Book Series" because she could not find that many bilingual children's books for kids ages 3 to 9 in the area where she was living at the time (Broward County, Florida). Many times she found herself reading a book in English to her son and then translating it into Spanish so he would practice both languages. Other times, she found herself reading a book in Spanish and translating it into English so her son would understand. She also found that it was hard to find a bilingual book with a good message at the end of the story. Mayra was born in Caracas, Venezuela. The family was living in Parkland, Florida, when she wrote the books. In their free time, Mayra and her family, foster dogs and volunteer at their local shelter.
