Rare opportunity to own a truly unique property in the heart of historic downtown Falmouth.

According to the owner, this charming building is the third-oldest structure in the city, offering a blend of rich history, character, and investment potential. The main level features an established antique shop in a highly visible, prime downtown location. In addition to the commercial space, the property includes two residential rental apartments, creating multiple income streams.

One apartment is located on the first floor and offers convenient zero-step entry, while the second apartment is situated on the upper level. Per the owner, both apartments have previously rented for $500 per month each, providing an excellent opportunity for supplemental income to help offset ownership expenses.

Whether you're looking to continue the retail business, expand your investment portfolio, or own a landmark piece of Falmouth's history, this one-of-a-kind property offers endless possibilities.

Nathan Hale had just turned 21 years old.

To put that into perspective, were he the same age today, he would’ve been born in 2005. He was Yale educated and had a prosperous, long life ahead of him.

This is not the stereotype of a revolutionary willing to risk his life because he had nothing to lose.

Nathan Hale was just a kid. He could’ve avoided the conflict altogether (as many people did), not chosen sides, and looked forward to a peaceful life in what was about to become the most prosperous country in the history of human civilization.
But he didn’t do that.

When General George Washington personally asked for a volunteer to spy on the British troop movements on Long Island—behind enemy lines—Nathan Hale volunteered. He knew how important it would be for the cause of liberty.

At this point, morale was low. The Americans were losing the war.
He knew what it meant if he was captured.

His brothers had fought the British at Lexington and Concord, the famous battles that started the war. It’s important to note that soldiers fighting these early battles in 1775 risked far more than than we may realize—the Continental Congress didn’t even unite to officially declare our independence until July of 1776. And even then it was controversial! The battles at Lexington, Concord, and Bunker Hill were fought purely on principle, before anyone knew there might be reinforcements from the other colonies.

Early on, it was still a Massachusetts war, not an “American” war. The other colonies didn’t want to get sucked in to a violent conflict with the most powerful military empire on Earth.
But this was the kind of family Nathan Hale was raised in.
They didn’t wait until it was “safe” to join the patriot cause. They were willing to risk their very lives to create the philosophical momentum that eventually won over public opinion.
So in 1776, Nathan Hale volunteered to become a spy for General Washington.

Ordinary soldiers were not usually executed if captured. Spies were, because it was viewed as a “dishonorable” act of treason.
And that’s exactly what happened. He was eventually captured behind enemy lines, crossing the Long Island Sound.
The next morning, September 22nd, 1776, he was executed.
He was still a kid when he uttered his famous last words before being hanged: “My only regret is that I have but one life to give for my country.”

It took 5 more years of sacrifice, but the American cause eventually prevailed in 1781 at Yorktown. The early sacrifice of men like Nathan Hale convinced the French that the war was winnable, and they finally allied with the American colonists to help defeat the British.

Like most of history, this was never a forgone conclusion. It required men like Nathan Hale (and his brothers) to risk their lives BEFORE there was any certainty of reinforcements. They were happy to do the right thing....because it was the right thing.
Not because the outcome was guaranteed.
It almost never is.

So remember that Memorial Day is not just a generic patriotic holiday.

It’s specifically to remember those who gave their LIVES for our freedom—men who traded all of their tomorrows for our today.
Men like Nathan Hale.

Being a dog mom means picking up your baby from doggie daycare (Ruffin it doggie day care) after she’s spent the entire day playing with her friends. At the end of the day, she even gets a little report card letting me know how she behaved, who she played with, and how her day went.

Twenty years ago, I never would’ve imagined that taking my dog to daycare to socialize with other dogs would become a normal part of life — but I absolutely love it. She comes home happy, worn out, and it’s been so good for her socialization and confidence around other dogs. A tired pup is definitely a happy pup!

Over Mother’s Day, I got to spend some time playing pickleball with my mom — one of our favorite things to do together. We played a best of two series: I won the first set, she came back and won the second, and we battled it out until the very end. Moments like these make me wish we lived closer so we could play every day. ❤️

Deaton's Greenhouse and Nursery has been a cornerstone of the Independence community for 28 years, serving local families with beautiful plants, flowers, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Located on Madison Pike across from Kroger, this family-owned greenhouse is known not only for its quality products but also for the relationships built over generations.

Owned by John Deaton, his sister Elizabeth Martin, and Susan and Joe Rahn of A.J. Rahn Greenhouse, the business began with John’s parents, who started by selling daylilies and irises. Their hard work and passion helped create a local tradition that continues to thrive today.

With a true “family first” mindset, Deaton’s Greenhouse is deeply involved in the community and values every customer like family. Many customers who shopped there years ago now bring their children and grandchildren, making it a special place where lasting memories and traditions continue to grow.

I had a really great closing last week that I wanted to share about…

Bryant came to me through a family referral, something I’m incredibly grateful for, as I’ve had the honor of helping multiple members of his family buy and sell homes over the years.

This time, it was different… It was his very first home.

His goal was clear:
✨ Acreage for his kids to run and play freely
✨ Space to grow
✨ A peaceful setting without sacrificing convenience

And we found THE ONE! 6 acres, with over 3,000 sqft of living space, a 3-car garage, and just minutes from town! and a large amount of instant equity $$$, which was certainly a bonus!

This is what homeownership is all about…freedom, space, and building long-term wealth.

Thinking about making a move in Northern Kentucky? Let’s talk. I’d love to help you find your next chapter.
