Foreclosure is scary, but running out of options isn’t always the same as running out of time.

This week was a reminder of why knowing when to bring in attorneys, lenders, negotiators, and other professionals matters. My job isn’t to be all of them. It’s to keep pushing every available path forward.

My cabinets are finished! I turned the base cabinets into a rolling workbench with an old solid wood door top and the upper cabinets into general storage. If you're new here, I made these from scratch in PCCs 6 credit cabinetmaking class. Pretty proud of myself and excited to use my garage to its fullest potential after having Portland Home Organizer | Megan Sears Organization help empty and organize it.

Think your credit score automatically means you can’t buy a home? 🏡

I heard this over and over again at Portland Pride, often from people whose credit scores were actually above the minimum for many loan types.

A 620 can open the door to many loan options, and some loan types may allow scores below that.

But your credit score is only ONE piece of the puzzle. Your debt-to-income ratio, or how your monthly debts compare to your income, can be incredibly important when determining what you may qualify for.

So if you have a 600 credit score, please don’t automatically decide the answer is “no” before you’ve even talked to someone.

Call a lender. Call me. Let’s look at the actual numbers.

🚧 Heads up, Portland! A major I-5 southbound closure is coming this fall.

From September 11 through early October, I-5 southbound through the Rose Quarter is expected to be closed 24/7 for up to 5 weeks while ODOT completes critical repairs on pavement and bridges that are more than 40 years old. Expect significant traffic impacts across the metro.

Why a full closure instead of nights or weekends? According to ODOT, it allows crews to finish the work faster, improves worker safety, creates a longer-lasting roadway, and reduces construction costs compared to the alternatives.

If you can: 🚆 Take transit 🚲 Bike or walk 🚗 Carpool ⏰ Travel outside peak hours 🗺️ Plan alternate routes and give yourself extra time
