When you buy a home you want to make it yours. You want the home to represent who you are and your personality. You add a little color here and a little plant there and a little shelf over there. While making a home all your own that speaks to who you are. One thing to keep in mind is resale value. Most people think I will live here forever and ever BUT what does tomorrow bring? We don’t know…a move across country, you don’t like your neighborhood or whatever the reason is. You may have to sell your forever home.

Now that that is out of the way. 😅 It is okay to decorate, renovate and paint. Just make sure when you’re expressing yourself you choose options that will increase your ability to sell without having to do a whole other renovation.

Home buying tip: Focus on the things you can change verses the things you can’t. When I bought my home I had to really take a few steps back give myself a reality check. It was NOT what I wanted aesthetically but it had good bones and wasn’t falling apart. It met my criteria for the basics. It was in my preferred location and had one of my number one items which was a view. Everything else I could live with for a little while and change over time. I am turning my home into my dream home. You’d be amazed, the small things you can do that can make big change in the look of a home.
