🐢💚 𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐔𝐒 #𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲! 💚🐢

We were lucky enough to be invited by 𝐒𝐞𝐚 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 to watch a 𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲—and even got to witness a few tiny turtles begin their journey to the ocean! 🌊

A nest inventory takes place after a nest has hatched. Sea Turtle Patrol carefully examines the nest to count hatched and unhatched eggs, document the nest’s success, and check for any hatchlings that may still need a little help making their way out.

This nest had an incredible 𝟖𝟗% 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞! 🎉 Even better, Sea Turtle Patrol HHI and their amazing volunteers found 𝟓 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 still in the nest and helped give them a safe path to the ocean. 🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢

Watching these tiny turtles make their way toward the waves was an incredible reminder of why protecting Hilton Head’s beaches—and supporting the people who dedicate their time to these animals—is so important.

You packed the bags, loaded the car, remembered the sunscreen, hauled everything to the beach…and somehow, someone still needs a snack the second you sit down. 😂

But then you watch the kids race toward the waves, dig in the sand, and make the kind of memories they’ll be talking about long after vacation is over. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭, 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐭. 💙
