Happy Labor Day, especially to Grandma, who was negotiating contracts and girl bossing before it was a thing. 💪🏻

A few Labor Day fun facts in honor of the OG:

🇺🇸 The first Labor Day was celebrated in 1882, when workers decided perhaps working 12 hours a day, six days a week was… not ideal.

💪 The labor movement helped bring us such minor “conveniences” as weekends, eight hour workdays and safer workplaces. Casual.

📋 Union stewards represented their coworkers, handled grievances and negotiated workplace issues, which means Grandma’s lifelong ability to negotiate absolutely everything was technically professional training.

👩 Women played a major role in the American labor movement long before anyone thought to call them “girl bosses”.

So cheers to organized labor, long weekends and Grandma: union steward, relentless negotiator and a woman who absolutely would have asked to speak to management — on behalf of everyone.😉💕

Transformation Tuesday, but make it personal. 🥹

Almost 20 years ago, mom and I took my senior year Turnabout pictures in this very room. Since then, a lot has changed, including us. 😂

For more than a decade now, we’ve worked side by side in real estate, striving to make a difference every day. Life came full circle when we were asked to sell this amazing family’s home and see this room completely transformed.

Maybe homes aren’t so different from people. The best transformations don’t erase what was there before. The bones are still the bones. The heart is still the heart. Sometimes a little freshening up just lets something shine in a whole new way. ✨

This room is such a great example: same fireplace, same built- ins, same space that held decades of memories; just brighter, fresher and ready for its next chapter.
