Congratulations to Children’s Theatre of Oahu for being one of the Coldwell Banker Island Properties Foundation 2026 Real Estate for Change Grant recipients.

Since 2004, Children’s Theatre of Oʻahu (CTO) has provided Oʻahu youth with hands-on opportunities to build confidence, creativity, and communication skills through live
theatre. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Hawaiʻi’s keiki, CTO offers an inclusive environment where students of all backgrounds and experience levels can actively participate in a structured program that promotes personal growth and teamwork.
CTO’s programming is centered at the KEY Project in Kahaluʻu, where students rehearse, collaborate, and develop performance skills in a consistent, community-based
setting. Serving families from all over Oʻahu, this partnership provides accessible arts education and opportunities for youth to engage in acting, storytelling, music, and
production work while building meaningful peer connections.
Each program culminates in a fully staged production at Palikū Theatre at Windward Community College. Performing in a professional venue allows students to apply their
skills in a real-world setting, build confidence, and take pride in completing a large-scale
collaborative project. Through this experience, participants develop communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that extend beyond the stage, along with a
stronger sense of belonging and connection to their community.

We are proud to support Children’s Theatre of Oʻahu and the important work they do to empower Hawaiʻi’s keiki through the arts. This grant will help CTO continue creating meaningful opportunities for young people to find their voice, build confidence, and discover the power of working together. This 5-minute check could save you from an unexpected expense. 🌧️🏡

Before falling in love with an Oahu property, take a moment to check its flood-zone designation. Homes near the coast, streams, drainage areas, or low-lying land may be located in higher-risk FEMA flood zones.

Why does this matter? Depending on the property and financing, your lender may require flood insurance. That added cost may not be reflected in the listing price or the monthly payment estimate you initially see.

You can research an address for free through FEMA’s Flood Map Service Center, the State of Hawaii’s Flood Hazard Assessment Tool, or the Oahu Hazard Explorer. These resources can help you understand the property’s mapped risk before you schedule a showing or submit an offer.

Remember, being in a flood zone does not automatically mean you should avoid the home—and being outside a high-risk zone does not mean there is no flood risk. The goal is to understand the potential insurance requirement, request an actual quote, and include the expense in your overall budget.

Who Would Love Living in Mililani? 🌳

Mililani is one of those neighborhoods where people move in—and stay for years. As one of Central Oʻahu's most established master-planned communities, it offers tree-lined streets, highly rated schools, and a true sense of community, all while being just 25–30 minutes from Honolulu.

One of Mililani's biggest draws is its incredible park system. Residents enjoy easy access to Mililani District Park, Mililani Ravine Park, Mililani Mauka District Park, and Makaʻunulau Community Park, giving families, walkers, athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts plenty of places to stay active. Whether it's weekend sports, playgrounds, walking paths, or open green spaces, there's always somewhere nearby to enjoy Hawaiʻi's beautiful weather.

Families appreciate the excellent schools and community atmosphere. Commuters love the convenient access to H-2. And many buyers are drawn to the larger lots, quieter streets, and exceptional value compared to many town-side neighborhoods.
