I recently had the privilege of spending two weeks in Japan. During this time, I had the opportunity to visit the Tokyo & Osaka CBRE offices. This experience was truly humbling and has deepened my appreciation for the business culture in Japan, after spending the last decade living and working in Hawaii.
It was incredibly insightful to meet with the leadership roles and talented teams across CBRE Japan. The opportunity to develop meaningful global relationships and leverage the firm’s capabilities on an international scale are truly unmatched. From the very beginning, the people, the spirit of collaboration, and the sense of camaraderie have been at the heart of why I love this industry and the CBRE culture.
During my time in Tokyo and Osaka, I was blown away by the stunning architecture and development projects, as well as the unparalleled efficiency of the transit systems. The low-interest-rate environment in Japan has also been a fascinating aspect to observe, providing unique insights into the market dynamics.
I must say, the hospitality extended by the CBRE teams in Tokyo and Osaka was truly remarkable. The sense of “Aloha” that permeates the CBRE Japan offices was profound, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit, where I plan to bring back some Kona coffee and macadamia nut chocolates as a token of my appreciation!
This experience has been a testament to the global nature of the commercial real estate industry and the immense value that can be gained from cross-cultural collaboration and exchange. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have broadened my horizons and look forward to applying the insights I’ve gained to further enhance my work in this dynamic field.
