Aloha, my name is Brandee Medeiros, and this is the short story of why I became a real estate agent.

I became a real estate agent because, as first-time homebuyers, my former long-term partner and I were rushed through the process. I felt completely out of my depth. I never wanted to feel that vulnerable again, in an industry and society that often take advantage of our vulnerability and determine whether so many of us can afford to own a home.

So, I went to real estate school, passed my licensing exam, became an agent, closed deals, and started to find my footing. I still have a long way to go before becoming an established name in Hawai‘i, and there is still so much to learn.

Housing is a basic need and a right that I deeply believe in. I don’t agree with a system where someone is only deemed deserving of a home if they have enough money. But until that system changes, and for as long as I am an agent, I will do my best to help people navigate the overwhelming process of buying and selling a home.

I will never stop learning so I can be the best possible agent for my clients, many of whom might feel just like I did if not treated with care and integrity. And I will continue to be a strong representative for my family and myself when it’s time for us to return to the closing table once again.
