Even if would-be buyers could have afforded more with the lower rates, it was a missed opportunity. When the Fed gets inflation under control and the market rebounds from the pent-up demand, another window could be lost.

The recovery from the Great Recession and the Pandemic gave the public a sense that mortgage rates would be low forever. Most experts believe rates will never return to those levels and we're going to need to adjust to what the new normal rates.
