Think socialism and special taxing those so called evil millionaires is the solution to city tax issues?
Just recently Washington (spear headed in Seattle) passed the "Millionaire Tax" on top of employee "head tax", "jump start" 5% payroll taxes, etc along w/not keeping up safety. Well the exodus is already happening fast. (Just like California, New Jersey, NY, & Massachusetts).
The rich take thier business elsewhere. Moving is just a tax right off. Other cities welcome them with open arms with incentives.
Those cities who pass these anti-rich policies get a rude awaking. Seattle offices are already at 1/3 vacancy. Homelessness and crime move in, cause even more businesses to leave because of crime. Because all of the vacancies the city gets less taxes. When this millionaires tax hits in 2028 it is estimate 50% vacanies. Shooting themselves in the foot. Ouch!
Big cities need to encourage corporations and high wage earners to come. They bring millions into that area and provide jobs. They do pay taxes and bring in tax revenue. When it gets to a point they are being penalized for being great, they leave.
This "tax the rich mindset" is becoming popular in democratic states. With horrible results. So far Hawaii has not gone this far and I hope watching how destructive these policies are, will not do this.
Note: Just 10 miles away from Seattle is Bellevue. Highly desired area, low vacancy rates, booming right now. Why? Strong safety and crime enforcement. Don't have all the wierd city taxes.
The big watch is to see how will this state wide "Millionaire tax" in 2028 plus the Seattle Exodus affect them. I predict by 2030 the negative result will show in Belluvue also, unfortunately.
