The Hawai'i REALTORS® (HR) is the largest professional trade organization in the State of Hawai'i. Founded in 1967, HR has 11,000 members who are active real estate licensees involved in all aspects related to the sale, purchase, exchange or lease of real property in Hawai'i. Along with HR, members belong to one or more of the five affiliated local boards throughout the State and the National Asso
ciation of REALTORS®. As a member of HR, a variety of top quality services, programs and activities are available to REALTORS® throughout the year. All of which are designed to enhance REALTORS® business practices. Some of these services include education, legislative support, conventions and seminars, standard forms and membership publication. The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics. •When HR was first established as the statewide trade association for real estate professionals in 1967, it was called the Hawaii Association of Real Estate Boards.
•In 1967, membership totaled 900 brokers and salespersons; between 1967 and 1975, membership grew to over 6,000.
•Membership peaked at 10,000 in 1980 and again in 1990
•In 1977, HR dues cost $25
•HR’s first Executive Vice President was George A. “Red” Morris (1967 to 1975)
