Real estate school taught me how the process is supposed to work.

There’s something about a house with good bones and better light🏡

708 Pierce St in Milton-Freewater greets you before you even reach the door: slate-blue siding, a cherry-red entry (a little detail I LOVE) and a walkway lined with flower pots that make you want to slow down. Step inside and the light does the talking: a kitchen with room to gather, a living room wrapped in windows that hold onto the afternoon sun, and a layout that just makes sense for everyday life.

My family and I love walking in a cemetery, you can’t help but feel comforted by the quiet and peace and Mountain View Cemetery is no different.

Established in the 1850s, it is one of the oldest cemeteries in Washington State. Eighty acres, trees older than most of the houses I sell, headstones worn soft by a hundred years of weather. It’s the same quiet I look for when I walk into a listing for the first time, that sense that a place has already lived a whole life before you got there.

The Bentley graves are the ones everyone whispers about, locals have called them “the witches” for generations, buried under concrete slabs rumored to keep their spirits from escaping.

A few steps further, William Kirkman’s story ends differently: an English immigrant who chased gold and cattle across three continents, then built the 1880 Victorian mansion still standing (and still open for tours) in here in Walla Walla.

That’s this town in one morning. A little myth, a little history, and homes that outlive all of us.
