Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting or interacting with Peggy Lucas will tell you that she is a force to be reckoned with. She can put you at ease in a moment, make you feel like you are lifelong friends the next moment, and solidly reaffirm your belief in the goodness of people from that point on. Although Peggy was passionate about her altruistic work serving as a detective, she knew being a mother to her two young sons was the most important role for her at that moment. She left the force and searched for a new career that would allow her to be a mother, yet continue to make a difference and serve people in her community. That decision, nearly three decades ago, was the most impactful for Peggy and the hundreds of families she has protected and served as their dedicated real estate professionals. Peggy focused on being the most dedicated and committed agent she could be for the families who placed their trust in her. Peggy’s rise to become one of the top agents in the Birmingham area was steady and totally expected by those who knew her work ethic and deep desire to help others. In fact, today, she is a nationally recognized and respected agent, who consults and coaches with the nation’s top agents. She has harnessed cutting-edge technology but is smart enough to know the slickest technology can’t replace the human touch and the power of simply caring about the people you serve. Peggy was the youngest of a close and loving family with seven children, and her upbringing shaped the people person she was to become. With seven siblings, and always a group of neighborhood children in her house, Peggy was bound to be the outgoing person she is today. “My mother used to say I never met a stranger,” laughs Peggy. “I think that still holds true!”
Another defining virtue instilled in Peggy was her incredible work ethic. She worked her way through college, earning a double degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. After attending the Police Academy, she became a police officer and later a detective. Her husband, David, is a retired police officer, and her son Donovan also carried on the family tradition as a peace officer. Daniel, her second-born son follows in Peggy’s parent's footsteps (they were both World War II Veterans), serving in the US Navy as an Internet Technology Specialist. The sense of duty and a strong desire to contribute to the greater good is entrenched in the Lucas household.
