PRESS RELEASE: HES/energynet Night Christmas Parade Rescheduled Due to Weather
Hopkinsville, KY - Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation staff have decided to move the Hopkinsville Electric System & EnergyNet Night Christmas Parade to Saturday, December 16th. The decision has come as a result of the weather forecast for the upcoming weekend continuing to predict thunderstorms, high winds, and heavy rainfall.
“We understand that rescheduling a large-scale event like the Christmas Parade can inconvenience community members, but our priority is making sure everyone remains safe while having an enjoyable time,” says Parks and Recreation Superintendent Toby Hudson.
Mayor James R. Knight expressed his support for the decision saying, “The decision to postpone the parade due to the weather is the smart choice. We don’t want anyone out in the rain and storms and getting sick or hurt.”
All other previously released information regarding the parade is transferable to the new date. The route, time, participants, and road closures will not change. The Community Christmas Tree Lighting will still be held on December 8th.
