Family Sauna

These family saunas vary in exterior appearance, but their interior dimensions are identical.
All the saunas are constructed from logs measuring 6 meters (approximately 20 feet) and
4 meters (approximately 13 feet) in length.
Inside, partitions divide the sauna into three rooms:
one half of the structure serves as a relaxation room,
while the other half is further divided into two additional rooms—one for steaming,
and the other for washing or showering.

Construction of a house with aerated concrete walls and a metal roof. Winter 2024-25.
In the fall of 2024, my team and I began building a small house from aerated concrete blocks. The foundation was ready.

In winter, a lot of time is spent on removing snow. This winter was warm. The snow melted from the foundation, and drops of water were easily removed with a blower.

The first row of blocks was laid on regular mortar. Grooves for the floor joists were immediately cut in the blocks of the first row.
The blocks of the second and subsequent rows were placed on glue for aerated concrete. Winter glue allows this to be done at temperatures down to minus 12 degrees Celsius (10.4 degrees Fahrenheit). Grooves were made in the row of blocks under the windows, plastic reinforcement was laid in them, and the grooves were filled with glue.
Metal corners were used as lintels. Grooves were cut in the blocks for them.

A reinforcing belt was formed in the top row. Metal reinforcement was installed in it and filled with concrete. Studs were inserted into the concrete to attach the wall plate. Due to the cool weather, an anti-freeze additive was added to the concrete. Waterproofing was placed on top of the walls.

The roof was installed starting with the installation of the wall plate, then rafters, waterproofing film, counter-battens, lathing, installation of valleys, covering with metal tiles, installation of ridges.
The last step was finishing the cornices with siding.

Roof on a house made of aerated concrete blocks.
Calculated the necessary materials. After purchasing them, I built this roof with pipes, a drainage system and siding on the eaves with my team.

Plasterboard walls, despite their popularity and convenience, are subject to various defects. Here are the main ones that require repair.
1. Cracks: can be due to deformations of the house and mechanical damage.
2. Holes and dents: can be from mechanical damage, as well as from opening the walls to access internal communications (water, electricity). Small holes can be from fasteners previously used to attach something to the wall.
3. Blisters and bubbles: the main reason is water leaks.
Repair comes down to cleaning the seams, walls, reinforcing the frame, replacing drywall, puttying, painting.

Installing a plastic shed. To install the shed, I first prepared a place for it. I removed the paving stones, leveled the stones along the outline and in the middle. I mounted a frame made of timber on the stones, and laid playwood on the timber. When the floor for the shed was ready, I laid paving stones around it, which had to be cut in many places. After that, I assembled the shed on the finished base. All work was carried out according to the instructions attached to the shed.

According to the project, this house, located on the Volga slope, should have balconies on the second floor on both sides of the house. From one balcony - a beautiful view of the Volga River, from the other - a view of the street. Powerful brackets made of glued beams were installed, to which longitudinal and transverse ties were attached. Then the finished floor and balcony railings were installed on them, but this was done by other builders.
