Beginning Tuesday, August 4 at 1:30 p.m., a burn ban is in effect for the City of Hot Springs. This ban is based on the potential fire hazard associated with low fuel moisture levels, dry conditions and little to no precipitation in the future forecast. The burn ban prohibits all controlled burning within city limits. All burn permits issued prior to the burn ban have been rescinded; they can be reissued or extended when the ban is lifted. The burn ban will be in effect as long as these conditions are present. Information on burn ban status will be available at 501-321-6977. CAPS is an available option to pick up yard debris like leaves and small limbs. They can be reached at 501-321-6921.

⚠️ The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning on Jul 21 for Garland County.
..EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 116.

* WHERE...Portions of central, eastern, north central, southeast,
southwest, and western Arkansas.

* WHEN...Until 9 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
