Cheryl Liddell Morrison oh no. Looks like 🐸 can’t feed šŸæļø Pizza in the park😱

Most? Yeah, most. Wanna fight about it? In general, it’s best not to be in contact with any part of a wild animal.
⁣
Let’s be honest, squirrels can be cute and fluffy (if not friend, why friend shaped?) therefore, people don’t usually mind them getting too close. But cuteness fades when a squirrel bites your hand, steals your car keys, and floors it out of the park with all your food in tow. Um, was Grandma in the car?
⁣
We kid about the keys and driving, (that’d be nutty), but animal bites do happen at parks. Best to keep hands and fingers away from heads, tails, paws, teeth, etc. Also, feeding human food to wildlife in national parks is bad for them and can make them fearless around humans and potentially aggressive. Not just the passive kind with a hint of side eye.
⁣
In conclusion, squirrels may not know better, but YOU do. Although it may feel flattering, (well, aren’t you the animal whisperer) if any kind of wildlife approaches you, back away and maintain a safe distance. Help us keep wildlife wild.⁣ Now has anyone seen the car keys?

Password Reuse: Why One Compromised Account Can Lead to Many

Using the same password across multiple accounts is one of the most common ways people lose access to their email, banking, and personal information. It’s convenient, but it’s also risky.

When a website or service suffers a data breach, attackers often take the stolen login information and try it everywhere else—email, social media, financial accounts, and cloud storage. This is known as credential stuffing, and it works far more often than people realize.

A few habits can significantly reduce that risk:
• Use a unique password for each important account. Email, banking, tax software, and work accounts should never share passwords.
• Protect your email first. If someone gains access to your email, they can often reset passwords for everything else.
• Enable two-factor authentication (2FA). Even if a password is compromised, 2FA can stop unauthorized access.
• Consider a password manager. These tools securely store and generate strong passwords so you don’t have to remember them all.
• Avoid simple or predictable passwords. If it’s easy to guess or reuse, it’s easy to exploit.

If you’re not sure how secure your accounts are, or if managing passwords has become overwhelming, it’s worth addressing sooner rather than later. A small change now can prevent a much larger problem down the road.

Keeping Your Financial Data Safe During Tax Season

Tax season is already stressful enough. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the busiest times of year for scams, phishing attempts, and stolen financial information. When sensitive data is being emailed, uploaded, and stored more frequently, attackers know people are more likely to be rushed or distracted.

You’ll start seeing two familiar faces in our weekly graphics:
• Squish, our resident troublemaker, represents the scams, bad habits, and risky shortcuts that can lead to compromised accounts or stolen data.
• Java, our vigilant protector, represents the smart security habits that help prevent those problems before they start.

A few practical steps that can significantly reduce your risk during tax season:
• Be skeptical of urgency. Emails or texts claiming there’s a problem with your taxes, refund, or account often rely on panic to get you to click. Government agencies and financial institutions do not demand immediate action via email or text.
• Protect your email first. Email is the gateway to most financial accounts. If it’s compromised, everything else is easier to access. Use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor authentication.
• Avoid password reuse. Using the same password across multiple accounts means one breach can expose everything. Password managers can help keep this manageable.
• Keep systems and software updated. Updates aren’t just about new features—they often fix known security vulnerabilities that attackers actively exploit.
• Use secure networks only. Public Wi-Fi is convenient, but it’s not the place to access tax documents, banking, or financial accounts.
• Back up important data. Having a recent backup ensures that even if something goes wrong, your information isn’t lost.

If your computer has been running slowly, behaving unexpectedly, or hasn’t been checked in a while, it may be more than just age. Performance issues can sometimes be early warning signs of deeper problems.

Taking a little time now to secure your system can help prevent data loss, downtime, and much more expensive issues later.
