Adventure...might otherwise be called hardship if it were attempted in a different spirit. For instance, I have had the following adventures in my professional life as an auditor: Machine gun pointed at me in the Congo; attempted kidnapping in Nigeria, stuck in an elevator for 90 minutes in Kazakhstan, driven 120 miles an hour down a street in Cairo, no driver from an airport in Caracas, and abandoned at a brothel in Brazil. Were they all hardships, yes, but I remember them as adventures!
