QUICK HOME CHECK: DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH SMOKE ALARMS?
Having one smoke alarm somewhere in the house isn't enough.
The U.S. Fire Administration recommends smoke alarms:
• Inside every bedroom
• Outside each sleeping area
• On every level of the home, including the basement
Interconnected alarms offer additional protection because when one detects smoke, all of the alarms sound.
And don't forget their age! Smoke alarms should generally be replaced every 10 years from the manufacture date.
Today's Fire Prevention Week challenge:
Find every smoke alarm in your home, press the test button, and check the manufacture date.
It only takes a few minutes to check something that could make a lifesaving difference.
