Windows can be functional in providing privacy and security for our homes, and they can also serve as aesthetic features like lighting and blending with our decor.
Most people generally achieve this by using either blinds or curtains, which come in varying shapes, sizes, and colours.
But there are key differences between curtains and blinds, and each has a benefit which will depend on your goals.
Blinds are generally

♦️ More affordable
♦️ Produce better lighting options
♦️ Are easier to clean
♦️ Cause less wear and tear

While Curtains

♦️ Provide more insulation
♦️ Better sound proofing
♦️ More design options
♦️ And provide a better blend of colours

I find that the best option for me, is when I can combine both in different rooms, to provide an ideal ambience in my home by;

♦️ Using blinds in smaller, non-utilized rooms like bathrooms and garages, which do not need light all the time, but can be easily illuminated with natural light, without compromising privacy when required.

♦️ Using curtains in communal rooms like family or dining rooms to provide an ambience of color, retain aromas and provide a cozy atmosphere.

As they say, Fences make good neighbors! and if you’re looking for natural plants or trees that can combine security, privacy and natural aesthetic greeney, the following 5 plants are top of my list;

🌲Leyland Express is a quick grower, adding several feet to its height each year.

🌲Arborvitae is a hardy wood, with deep green foliage; is compatible with most soil, and has almost zero maintenance,

🌲 Concolor Fir; a chubby, soft and gray blue, conical shape, that enhances the aesthetic aspect of your home

🌲Eastern White Pine (Buyer Beware) - This is a huge tree that can grow up to 60ft high by 30ft wide, and may need permissioning

🌲 Japanese False Cypress ⭐ - “My personal favourite” because it’s feathery and soft appearance, and grows to about 6ft tall. Perfect for the city without overpowering the appearance of your home.

I love gardening, but maintaining the curb appeal during winter can be tedious. If you’re selling, just remember that something as simple, and as nice as a garden, can make the difference for buyers.

Just imagine the contrast of an icy dull morning, with a brightly multi-colored garden, or even better, when the sun ☀️ hits illuminates it ? Glorious right/

Some tips on how to make your garden more attractive

🌺 Switch to cold weather plants like Blue spruce, Wintergreen Boxwood, Catmint and Pansies.
They will blend with the frosty air and still retain their colours

🌺 Add Mulch to protect the soil underneath and provide much needed moisture to keep plants thriving in the cold

🌺 Periodical winter watering to help plants retain moisture and grow when the cold turns the air dry, will keep them suppulent. Pot sensitive plants and add the water to the pot

🌺 Consider plant protectors for the plants that absolutely cannot survive winter. If you use semi-transparent ones, bright colored plants can still shine through, without the risk of exposure. Some protectors will even look like snow.

🌺 If you have a lawn, avoid foot traffic to stop the messy look, and cut the grass low to retain moisture. Ideally prep the lawn before the first freeze arrives.

Rinse and repeat to maintain a beautiful lawn throughout the winter and to keep the buyer’s first impression keen.

The market is quieter, which translates to lower prices and less money out of your pocket

✨Better, Faster Service
We have fewer clients in the Winter, so you pretty much enjoy VIP and personalized service compared to the surge of the summer months

✨Save on Moving costs
Similar to Real Estate, moving is cheaper, because of a shortage of clients for all the other industries that service new buyers

✨ A Reality Check
You can see your home in harsh weather and identify potential problem areas compare to the summer when there are no stressors to the home

🛑 Note that there may be less inventory and slower service in other related sectors like banking and lending during the winter months, which coincide with the festive period, but as realtors, we provide workarounds that help you land the home you want.
