Episode 5: Red Flags I Ignored.

Have you ever looked back at something years later and finally understood what you couldn’t see while you were living through it?

I never asked him for a birthday gift.

That’s the part I didn’t understand until years later.

At the time, I thought we had just gotten into a terrible argument on my birthday. He said he felt pressured because he didn’t know what to buy me. He screamed. He called me names. I sat quietly in the passenger seat with tears running down my face.

We turned around.

No dinner.
No celebration.
And the next day, he apologized and promised to make it up to me.

He never did.

For a long time, I focused on how badly the argument hurt me.

What I didn’t recognize until later was the outcome: all of that chaos was created around something I had never even asked for, and by the end of it, nothing had to be done for my birthday at all.

That was one of the red flags I couldn’t see clearly back then.

Sometimes the red flag isn’t only what happened.

It’s noticing who consistently benefits from the chaos after it happens.

When women uplift one another, there’s no limit to what we can accomplish!

One thing life has taught me is that no matter how many times you get knocked down, you can always get back up. I’ve experienced my share of ups and downs, moments of uncertainty, and seasons when giving up would have been so much easier than pushing forward.

But through it all, one thing has remained constant: GOD.

When you put God first, trust His timing, and keep your faith even when you can’t see the way forward, He will give you the strength to get through what you thought would break you.
And as women, we have to remember that we’re not in competition with one another. We should be building each other up, celebrating each other’s victories, encouraging each other’s dreams, and reaching back to help the next woman rise.

Never give up on your dreams just because life didn’t go according to your plans. Sometimes the very things you thought would destroy you become the foundation for everything God is preparing you to become.

Keep the faith. Keep showing up. Keep building. And never forget to UPLIFT HER along the way!

It’s okay to start over. It’s okay to outgrow the life you once prayed for, change direction, and admit that what used to make you happy no longer does.

You don’t have to keep living a life that no longer fits just because you spent years building it.

Starting over doesn’t mean you failed. It means you’re giving yourself permission to build a life that reflects who you are now, not who you had to be to survive. Episode 4: My Daughter Was Watching. I thought I was protecting my daughter by keeping everything together.
I thought if I smiled enough, stayed quiet enough, and made sure her life looked normal, she wouldn’t notice what was happening behind closed doors.
But children notice more than we think.
She noticed when my voice changed. She noticed when I became quiet. She noticed when I started watching his face before deciding whether it was safe to speak.
And one day, I realized she was learning to read the room just like I was.
I thought I was hiding the pain from her, but she was watching me live through it.
That realization changed the way I looked at everything.
Because I wasn’t just thinking about the kind of marriage I was living in anymore. I was thinking about what my daughter was learning about love, respect, boundaries, and what a woman should have to tolerate.
I couldn’t control the example he chose to set. But I could begin changing the example I was setting for her.
Sometimes rebuilding your life begins with realizing who is watching you live it.

Episode 3 : It Was Never About Me

Something happened at his job that day.

I had nothing to do with it. I wasn’t there. I didn’t cause it. I couldn’t fix it.

But somehow, I became the place where all of that anger landed.

I learned to study his face when he walked through the door. I could tell by the way he put his keys down, the tone of his voice, or the way he moved through the house whether I needed to be careful.

And when his emotions became too big for him to manage, I found myself trying to manage them for him.

Say less.
Don’t ask too many questions.
Don’t walk away.
Don’t explain too much.
Don’t say the wrong thing.

Until one day, the anger became physical.

For a long time, I thought peace depended on me finding the perfect combination of words, silence, patience, and love.

It didn’t.

I was trying to regulate emotions that were never mine to regulate.

That realization became an important part of getting myself back.
