December 2010 — Gerhardt Richter (the fullness of time). — Unaware that winter day, behind a cold blast of Canadian air. Mist, dissipated & lonely, blew up & off the forlorn crest of cold waves. Seawall Concrete, blank sky & churlish ocean were greyscale. The wind blew across the water towards Mexico. It felt to me like it would never get there. I don’t really recall the moment, although I do remember the feeling when I first saw the image writ large on a computer. It made me cold, and then lonely, like a spirit might in an old Gothic house. For some reason the imperfect blur of it made me reflect on the artist Richter, who had recently had a show at the fort worth museum of modern art. So I settled down on the steps of my house thinking about that town. Stepping down to the Ft. Worth Blues.
