The disparity between the first world countries, otherwise known as "the developed" and countries in Africa is too much in terms of access to environmental quality, economic opportunity and social well-being. This is so alarming owing to the fact that amongst all the data themes of the World Development Indices, No African country has attained global development average yet Africa holds the highest rate of ROI in the world.
By getting urban development right, cities can create jobs and offer better livelihoods; increase economic growth; improve social inclusion; promote the decoupling of living standards and economic growth from environmental resource use; protect local and regional ecosystems; reduce both urban and rural poverty.
Hence we decided, as empathy driven natives of Africa and global imagineers with African roots living in developed parts of the world, to create an initiative with a compassionate ideology towards the creation of special economic zones (cities) of opportunities across Africa for equitable distribution of resources.
Subway Labs is piloted by innovation in Africa, covering 50 countries to pragmatically bridge the development divide between Africa and "the developed regions of the world. We see and have summed up Africa as one whole intelligent business community that will experience rapid development through our interventions. We have divided Africa into development zones, where a city will be built, each having a specific responsibility and delivering specific solution to the myriads of challenges on the continent today.
Our cities will serve as development incubators on behalf of the zones and they are designed in line with the comparative advantage of the zones to become a model for urban development, provision of opportunities and equitable distribution of resources.
