The National Weather Service is monitoring a disturbance in the Gulf with a 70% chance of development as it moves towards Houston. Regardless of whether it becomes a named system, Southeast Texas could experience heavy rain Tuesday and Wednesday.

The current forecast includes a slight risk of excessive rainfall generally east of the Brazos River and a marginal risk elsewhere across Southeast Texas. Repeated storms over the same areas could create localized flash flooding.
So today is the time to take a few simple precautions!

YOUR 5-MINUTE RAIN CHECK:

✓ Clear leaves and debris from gutters, driveway drains and nearby storm inlets
✓ Confirm that downspouts direct water away from the foundation
✓ Secure lightweight patio furniture, umbrellas and outdoor décor
✓ Charge phones, flashlights and backup batteries
✓ Turn on weather and CenterPoint outage alerts
✓ Know how to open your electric garage door manually

If heavy rain develops, safely observe where water collects and how it moves around your property. This can help identify clogged drains, overflowing gutters or grading issues before they cause more serious damage.

Please monitor official forecasts, and never drive through water covering a roadway.
