Emancipation Park is proof that a real estate transaction can change history. In 1872, a group of formerly enslaved community leaders pooled together $800 to buy 10 acres of land in Third Ward.
They didn't just buy dirt. They bought a sanctuary. They bought the space to celebrate Juneteenth safely, creating what we know today as Emancipation Park: the oldest public park in Texas.
As we pause to celebrate remember that when done with intention, a real estate transaction is an act of preservation. Beyond the bottom line, it's an anchor for community wealth, a safe haven for culture and a monument to collective resilience. We build for impact because we stand on the shoulders of those who did the same for us. Build something that outlives the moment.
