Texas Draws $4.8B in International Home Buys | For an experienced team with over 20 years buying, selling, leasing , and managing investment properties
Texas continues to be a magnet for international homebuyers, with $4.8 billion spent on Texas homes and approximately 7,800 properties purchased over the reporting year. While some markets slowed, Texas saw a 4% growth in transactions. International buyers here paid a median price of $375,000—higher than the statewide median of $334,000—and their purchases accounted for about 2% of all existing-home sales in Texas, outpacing the national share.

What’s driving this interest? Affordability and lifestyle remain key. Nearly 60% of these buyers chose suburban areas, about 80% preferred detached homes, and a notable 40% paid cash. Buyers from Mexico made up the largest group (35%), followed by India (14%) and China (9%), highlighting the state’s broad global appeal.

Texas captured 12% of all US foreign home purchases, maintaining its status as a top destination—even as new regulations add challenges for some buyers.
