PSA: If you inherited a property in Texas and aren’t sure what to do, you have more options than listing or foreclosure.

Many people think their only choices are listing the house or letting it go to foreclosure, but that’s rarely true.

Depending on the situation, options may include:

• Selling the property as-is (no repairs required)
• Taking time to resolve probate before making a decision
• Paying off back taxes or liens before selling (some buyers will work with you on this part)
• Renting the property short term while you decide
• Working with a buyer who understands inherited properties

Inherited homes often come with emotional weight, legal steps, and financial pressure , especially if repairs, taxes, or family disagreements are involved. Rushing into a decision without understanding your options can add unnecessary stress.

The most important first step isn’t selling ..it’s getting clear on what you actually have and what paths are available to you.
