Webster is building out a much bigger destination area around Flyway, with entertainment, restaurants, hotels, retail and more still on the way. Community Impact says Flyway is an 80-acre project, and the city is using its location along I-45, where about 250,000 vehicles travel daily, to keep drawing attention and development. 

Already open in the area: Great Wolf Lodge, Vida Mariscos and Chicken N Pickle. Still coming: IKEA, Sprouts, Slick City, Gauchos Do Sul, Sunset Amphitheater Houston, plus the HCA Clear Lake expansion. 

For people around Clear Lake, Friendswood, League City and Southeast Houston, this is one of those updates that feels small on paper but could have a pretty big effect on how this whole corridor develops. That last part is my read on the trend based on the project mix and location.

Friendswood City Center is planned as a 106-acre mixed-use development near FM 528 and Bay Area Blvd. Current plans point to retail, office and medical space, apartments, and a major entertainment anchor expected to include a B&B Theatres complex with dining, bowling, arcade space, and more.

This could end up being one of the most talked-about projects in the area, especially for people who want more local places to eat, hang out, and enjoy without having to drive outside Friendswood.
