After 25 years with RE/MAX, I think that an independent brokerage has an advantage to give value far in excess of the cost. Nothing bad about any franchise, but high cost is certainly a component that you don't have with an indie. The components of value can actually be exceeded by an indie since they are not straddled with one provider or the other and have the unlimited power to choose -- for the brokerage and the independent agents.
