Please stay in and of the roadways.

Notice from the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority:

FB Parkway and Westpark mainlanes will be closing inbound starting about 7P.
Once inbound lanes are closed, then we will be closing outbound mainlanes.

Then Grand Parkway northbound and southbound overpasses will close, except for the segments between West Airport & 90A and New Territory & Riverpark (Brazos River bridge).

We will try to keep those segments open throughout the event.

At-grade surface street options; mainlane to ramp, through the intersection, avoiding the overpass, are available for all overpass sections that will be closed.

All roads will be reopened as soon as possible.

BE PREPARED AND PROTECT YOUR PIPES

*Keep garage doors closed if there are water supply lines in the garage.
*Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing. Be sure to move any harmful cleaners and household chemicals up out of the reach of children.
*When the weather is very cold outside, let the cold water drip from the faucet served by exposed pipes. Running water through the pipe - even at a trickle - helps prevent pipes from freezing, but expect a higher water bill.
*Keep the thermostat set to the same temperature both during the day and at night. By temporarily suspending the use of lower nighttime temperatures, you may incur a higher heating bill, but you can prevent a much more costly repair job if pipes freeze and burst.

If you need to shut the water off from your home from the main water supply, contact your water provider to shut off. Most newer homes have two main water shut off valves, the one in your front yard (installed by your water provider with a meter) and the other installed by the builder of your home. They tend to be in your garage, food pantry or bathroom. Make sure you know where they are in case of an emergency.

As the weather forecast becomes more confident in seeing temperatures fall to or below freezing at night, take the time to protect your pipes. Here is some helpful information on what you need to do ahead of the cold weather.

*Check sprinkler or irrigation systems - make sure you’ve turned everything off and fully drain the system.
*Identify your home’s freezing points - check your home for pipes in areas that might be prone to freezing.
*Know how to shut off your water - Locate your main water shut off valve.
*Strengthen your defenses - Eliminate sources of cold air near water lines.
*Protect your pipes - Where pipes are exposed to cold, wrap them.

Use this weekend to prepare.
