Wintry weather is upon us! Stay warm and please be safe.

Remember to check in on your elderly neighbors, friends, and family during these frigid temps.

Wrap exposed pipes in your attic with pipe insulation.
Cover exterior hose bibs with insulated covers and wrap exposed exterior pipes with pipe insulation. If you can’t find insulation, use old towels and cover with trash bags.
Keep water flowing by opening faucets to a slow drip, especially on exterior walls.
Open cabinet doors under sinks to let warm air flow. But be cautious with kids and pets around open cabinets.
Vacant Homes: Keep inside temperature at least 65 degrees F. Open cabinets under sinks and along exterior walls for airflow.
Sprinkler System: Turn it off and open the valves to allow for water expansion.
Pools: Keep all your pumps running.
If Pipes Freeze: Patience is the key. Thaw naturally, or use a hair dryer for quicker results. Have bottled water on hand.
Emergency Preparedness: Know how to turn off water to your home, at the meter, and at fixtures.
