How will Downtown Houston walk from the convention center toward Toyota Center in 2028?

The garage south of the GRB is coming down, and the replacement will give Downtown a much more interesting walk! GRB South plans a 700,000-square-foot convention addition plus a pedestrian plaza stretching toward Toyota Center.

The first phase is fully funded through a $1.38 billion bond sale, with opening targeted for May 2028. The existing convention center is scheduled to stay open during construction.

Spice in Heights is now open, and we’re very much in favor of a dinner that starts with pistachio butter! Pair the house-baked flatbread with the hummus trio, then pick a fire-grilled kabob or clay-pot tagine for the table.
