Layne Kiker has been my friend for almost 30 years! I meet her back at the Greatsouthwest Equestrian Center in Katy in the late 90's as my horseback riding instructor. Layne was instrumental in developing my riding skills as an equestrian and me owning my horses Marley, W***y, Olajuwon and Brighton at different time periods. Layne gave me my first job at Circle Lake Ranch as a groomer and later as a horse back riding instructor. Over the years our relationship has grown so much that I now consider her part of my family.
On Friday morning 9/11, while Layne was at the hospital attending her husband David, who is very ill right now she received the devastating phone call that her home was on fire and burning to the ground. The most devastating news was finding out that their 3 yellow Labrador Retrievers had perished in the fire with all of their belongings. They only have the clothes on their back and an overnight bag they took to the hospital when David was admitted.
I'm asking friends, family, and everyone I know to please take a moment to read this, and if you are able, help these two people who are going through something no one should ever has to experience.
