It is home for my family and me as well as much of my extended family and is where I have dedicated over twenty years (and counting) towards local law enforcement. My childhood years in the area schools, my adolescent years working in the community, and my adult years as a parent and a member of the local law enforcement have helped me to create an extensive knowledge of this area. I joined the League City Police Department in 1992. I was the first full time Community Outreach Officer for the League City Police Department, handling all crime prevention and community service programs. During this time, I worked on many community projects involving safety in the community. I worked with Congressman Nick Lampson on child safety issues in Galveston County. I was a regular speaker for many groups in the area including the Space Center Rotary, The Lions Club, AARP and the Chamber of Commerce. I was also a special guest instructor at Johnson Space Center for "NASA Safety Day." I spearheaded many youth oriented community programs such as "Kids n Cops" Summer Softball, "Hoops Over League City" Basketball Tournament, League City "National Night Out" and the LCPD "Blue Santa Program". I also started the "Kids n Cops" sporting event program, where police officers chaperoned kids to local sporting events such as Astros Baseball, Aeros Hockey, Oilers Football and various college games. I also volunteered my spring break for 10 years in a row chaperoning the Washington DC trip for 5th graders and took more than 350 children to the nation's capitol. Officer and received the award of "Top D.A.R.E. Officer" in my class. For 9 years I taught in elementary schools in League City to over 65,000 children. I hold a Master Peace Officer Certification, the highest certification that a police officer can receive. I have an Associate Degree from College of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas. I have a Bachelor Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. I am a Police Instructor and have taught in the Police Academy at Alvin Community College and College of the Mainland. I am also a Fi****ms Instructor, responsible for training other police officers along with training civilians in the League City Citizen's Police Academy. I am a Crime Prevention Specialist licensed to perform home inspections for safety issues that provide a discount on your homeowner's insurance. I have received a Life Saving Award and the Employee of the Quarter Award from the City of League City. I also received the Lifetime Member Award from The National Parent Teacher Association and was recognized by Dr. Sandra Mossman of Clear Creek ISD for my work as a D.A.R.E. officer in the elementary schools of League City. I decided to share my knowledge of the area and to help others find a home in our wonderful community.
