If you’re referring patients to short-term
housing near the Texas Medical Center, this is where
things can quietly go wrong.

Housing gets treated like a logistical detail.

But when it’s not set up right, it becomes a daily
stressor that patients and caregivers carry on top of
everything else.

Before you make a recommendation, here are 6 things
worth verifying:

1. Is it month-to-month? Many patients do not know
their treatment length upfront.
2. Is the apartment fully furnished, including
kitchenware and linens?
3. Is there in-unit or on-site laundry?
4. How close is it to the patient's specific hospital?
TMC is large, and walkability matters.
5. Is there parking or shuttle access?
6. Who does the patient call if something goes wrong
at 11 pm?

Because when even one of these is missing, it doesn’t
stay small. It shows up in missed rest, added costs,
and unnecessary stress during an already
overwhelming time.
